Best In The Desert’s Biltek Silver State 300 will be held this Saturday, April 30th. The start and finish lines are close to Alamo, Nevada, a tiny town on Hwy 93 about 95 miles north of Las Vegas. With terrain varying from mountains, canyons and stream crossings to wide open desert sections this will prove to be a fast, yet challenging race. The Aliante Casino & Resort in Las Vegas is host for this race including tech inspection and contingency to be held on Friday April 29th.
The race includes six pit locations in some of the most beautiful desert and mountains Nevada has to offer. While scenic, the weather in the past has brought snow at this time of the year and with a major storm predicted for the area the day before the race, mother-nature may have her say on race day too.
Shaffer-Motorsports is competing in the Torchmate class 10 car for the entire BITD 2011 series. “Just finishing the Silver State 300 will put us in 5th place for the series championship but we are still aiming for the podium” notes Daniel Aeberli of Shaffer-Motorsports. Co-driver Shawn Twitchell adds, “We are using this race as a preparedness test for our pit crews. Our chase teams are among the best out there and they are critical to our success at all races including the big ones like BITD’s Vegas to Reno and SCORE’s Baja 1000″.
